COVID-19 and Fun Coast Bartending

September 10, 2020

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has been devastating in many ways to people all over the world. In the United States alone there have been nearly 200,000 deaths and millions of infections. While some people survived with only mild symptoms, others stayed in hospitals for weeks and will have complications for the rest of their lives. Fun Coast Bartending, along with other events based businesses, has also been affected by this virus. Even though none of our staff have been infected, we have had over 100 canceled events for 2020 and have certainly felt a financial impact. This virus is real and it is still infecting people every day.

At Fun Coast Bartending, we believe we have a moral obligation to do whatever we can to protect our community, our guests, and ourselves.  To that end, we have been observing the following precautions:

  1. Masks - Bartenders and servers are wearing masks during events. We will continue to wear masks so long as recommended by the Centers For Disease Control and mandated by local jurisdictions. Don’t worry, we’re still smiling behind our face covering.

  2. Handwashing - We believe that wearing a face covering and washing our hands frequently are the two easiest ways that all of us can slow the spread of Coronavirus. We were already big fans of handwashing, but are even more mindful of it now.  Between trips to the hand wash sink, we are using sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer to help keep our hands hygienic.

  3. Elevated cleaning - We are using sanitizer solutions / sanitizing wipes even more than we did before, wiping the bar surface and our tools as often as possible between guests.

  4. Limited “touchables” - We are limiting the number of touchable items we have on the bar. Examples include wine displays, cocktail napkins, and stir-sticks.

We are all in this together. Stay well out there. Cheers!
